First
winning a painting competition in the early 1960s, I have continued
to develop my skills over the years. I am self taught and I
paint in oils, my subjects being landscapes, seascape and buildings.
Mainly the subjects of my works are based in Kent, Sussex and
Cornwall. My landscape paintings have been compared favourable
with those of John William Inchbold, John Brett and Ford Maddox
Brown.
I sell
paintings privately to a group of patrons and at local exhibitions.
I also have a large number of commissions, the majority of
which require interpretations of existing works. I have also
exhibited and sold at the Royal Academy
I have
a wonderful studio on the north side of our house, the light
being perfect from about one and half hours after sun rise,
although in the summer it gets awfully hot - any excuse for
a cup of tea. I am based in the village of Caple-le-Ferne
on the North Downs in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
We are also very proud to have the Battle of Britain Memorial
in the village, a fitting place as we are on the 'White Cliffs
of Dover'.
The paintings shown in my gallery are recent works, some of
which are available. Those shown will enable you to gain an
insight into my style and philosophy.
I have included useful web sites and comments on the areas
I have visited to give some guidance and background.
